Welcome back to the second part of my series on the home-buying process. Once you have your pre-approval, it’s time for most people’s favorite part of the process—home shopping. Here are some tips for making the most of your home shopping experience:

1. Work closely with your agent. You don’t necessarily want to view all the homes on the market in your price range. You and your agent should narrow down what you’re looking for. If you see a property that you want to check out, make sure you contact your agent first so they can represent you.

2. Drive around. Once you’ve picked out three to five homes you want to see, drive by those houses during the day and night so you can get the feel for the neighborhood.

3. Check after a storm. If there are heavy rains while you’re in the home-buying process, drive by the home you’re interested in to see where water collects.

In part three, we’ll talk about earnest money. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email me. I look forward to hearing from you.
